Apple to unveil refreshes on 4 of 5 of its Mac product lines: report

Cupertino, California-based Apple will use its upcoming World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) to unveil refreshes on most of its Mac product lines, according to Apple enthusiast 9to5Mac.

Citing unnamed sources, 9to5Mac reported that Apple would introduce new MacBook Pros, new MacBook Airs, new iMacs, and either a new Mac Pro or a new Mac mini.

Mental disorders more likely in premature kids

According to a study, mental problems like depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are found among children who are born prematurely.

As compared with babies who are born after completing the normal gestation term of 40 weeks, babies who are born in less than 32 weeks of gestation are more at risk. The study had assessed medical records of over 1.5 million people. The risk is about three times more for being hospitalized for a psychiatric problem as an adult, researchers found.

Google blames Microsoft, Nokia of mobile conspiracy

Google Inc. has announced that it has filed a formal complaint with the European Commission against Microsoft Corp. and Nokia’s alleged scheme to raise the costs of mobile devices.

It Internet search giant accused Microsoft and Nokia of conspiring to use their patents against rivals smartphone companies.

In its complaint with the European Commission, Google said Microsoft and Nokia transferred as many as 1,200 patents for assertion to a group named MOSAID, which it called a "patent troll" - a term used to refer patents-holder that litigates rivals aggressively.

Global cancer rises with western lifestyle

It has been claimed by experts that across the world, a huge surge can take place due to unhealthy Western ways of living.

By 2030, global cancer will be up by about 75 per cent and when it comes to poorest countries this rise can be about 90 per cent.

Flipboard opens up its Android beta program for all Android users

In a move that brings the social news reader app Flipboard to the Android platform, the company revealed in a Wednesday announcement that it has opened up its Android beta program to all users of Android-based devices.

Confirming that an Android version of the Flipboard news reader app is being developed, the company said on a placeholder website that Android mobile handsets will "soon" have the app coming aboard their devices.

HTC Shipments Clear U.S. Customs Review

In a Wednesday statement, Taiwan-based smartphone vendor HTC revealed that its two new smartphones – the EVO 4G LTE and the One X – had passed a mandatory review by the US Customs, which had given clearance to the shipments of the handsets to the country.

According to the information shared by HTC via a Taiwan Stock Exchange filing, the two smartphones – which were earlier delayed due to the Customs review – had duly completed the US Customs inspection; and had been found to be ‘in compliance with’ a ruling by the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Nintendo will most likely not change Wii U name

Nintendo has just launched a ritzy Facebook fan page and a brand new logo for its upcoming games console Wii U, giving a strong signal that the video games company has no plans to change the name of the console.

RIM employees facing massive job cuts

Thousands of RIM employees are facing redundancy as the beleaguered Canadian manufacturer is going to launch a massive restructuring program to cut costs.

The Globe and Mail recently reported that the Waterloo-based BlackBerry smartphone maker has plans to announce the next round of layoffs as soon as 1st of June. The reported cuts will sweep across a number of departments, such as the legal, human resources, finance, sales and marketing.
