Google Inc.'s video-sharing site YouTube has become a major platform for news as more and more Internet users are turning to the site to access news, a study by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism revealed.

After studying the most popular news videos on YouTube for around 15 months, researchers found that a growing percentage of videos being posted and viewed on Youtube are serious news.

Lumia 900 price cut points at Nokia’s worsening woes

While Nokia described the Lumia 900 price cut as a `normal strategy,' the move apparently shows that the Finnish handset maker's woes are worsening.

Nokia slashed the price of the Lumia 900 from $99 to just $49.99, a little more than three months after the smartphone hit AT&T stores in April.

Confirming the price cut, Nokia spokesperson Doug Dawson said, "This move is a normal strategy that is put in place during the life cycle of most phones. [It] allows a broader consumer base to buy this flagship device at a more accessible price."

Apple iPhone 5 reportedly in production stage

According to a Saturday post on the Japan-based Apple fan blog Macotakara, some unnamed Chinese sources have revealed that the much-awaited Apple iPhone 5 is now in the production stage --- a revelation which coincides with the availability of third-party cases that have been designed for the forthcoming iPhone.

With the Macotakara blog post disclosing that the production of iPhone 5 has been ramped up by China-based manufacturers of the device, it has also been reported that there probably will be some minor design changes coming aboard the smartphone from parts allegedly leaked in May.

Microsoft set to introduce Office 2013

According to a recent report from USA Today, software giant Microsoft will likely introduce the next version of its money-making software suite - which will probably be officially labeled as `Office 2013' - on Monday.

Going by the newspaper report, citing details shared by unidentified sources, it will be during the course of a July 16-scheduled news conference that host Steve Ballmer - the CEO of Microsoft - will take the wraps off the software, which has been codenamed "Office 15" by the company. In fact, the sources said that the conference will pivot around the new Office offering.

Apple suffers fall in U.S. Mac sales in Q2: IDC

Apple Inc. suffered a fall in PC sales in the United States in the second quarter that ended June 30, according to market research firms IDC.

According to figures compiled by IDC, the Cupertino, California-based computer maker sold fewer Macs in the country in the three months to the end of June as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.

The figures show that Apple shipped 1.81 million Mac computers in the United States during the concerned three months quarter, down 1.1 per cent from the 1.83 million Macs sold in the corresponding period of 2011.

Password-pilfering bug has been fixed: Yahoo

The bug that allowed hackers to steal more than 450,000 passwords from one of Yahoo's services has been fixed, the Internet search firm claimed.

Some unknown hacker/s recently breached the cyber security of Yahoo, and stole a file from the Yahoo Voices that contained thousands of users' credentials.

Total number of cases reaches 100 in Legionnaire’s outbreak

Since the Legionnaire’s outbreak that started in Edinburgh in May, there has been one more confirmed case and this makes the total number of cases to 100.

This outbreak has taken away three lives and it is being suspected that it took place due to a cooling tower in the city.
