Jane Norman, the famous fashion chain retailer finally joined the list of closures and that has put job of 1,600 of its employees at stake. In last one week alone, some 5,300 jobs related to the sector have been lost since the closure of Habitat and Homeform took place.
TJ Hughes is going to fill for appointment of a administrator from today and it is expected that the whole issue will settle down soon. At present, TJ Hughes has some 57 stores and employs 4,000 staff members. No comments from the company were made.
There is a sense of unease in the whole industry and that can be felt since M&S has come out with its summer sale two weeks before the schedule. A spokesman said that sales can be seen everywhere and it’s just response to consumer demand.
Jane Norman has some 90 stores and more than 100 concessions under its brand umbrella. When administrator Zolfo Cooper took control of the situation, the only words that were out were thrashing the company. Now the chain is going to be sold off so that a large part of its £140 million debt can be wipped out.
