Pakistan and US have to restore confidence

Alistair Burt, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister were accompanied by the Permanent Under-Secretary of the foreign and Commonwealth Office, Simon Fraser on the former’s maiden trip to Pakistan after he took up his post in the Office.

Burt participated in the discussions of a wide array about the mutual association shared by Pakistan and UK as he met with Gilani, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, President Zardari and also Rehman Malik, the Interior Minister of Pakistan.

Apart from them, Burt also held meetings with other important officials namely Dr. Paul Bhatti, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Minority affairs and certain associates of the Inter-faith Council. Burt expressed the pleasure he gained from his visit to the country.

He described his visit to Pakistan as a chance to develop on the latest visit of the PM and also to strengthen the promises made by UK towards Pakistan and its people who have been afflicted a great deal for a long number of years now at the hands of terrorism. He also emphasized that though the two nations shared a good relation on the trade and commerce front, Pakistan still needed to work on certain safety issues.
