Samsung violates China’s labor laws: A labor watchdog finds

A Chinese labor watchdog has accused Samsung of violating laws pertaining to labor rights in the country.

According to China Labor Watch, HEG Electronics, where Samsung mobile phones and DVD players are assembled, forces employees to work for unreasonably long hours and child labor is prevalent in the factory.

The Chinese labor watchdog said, "The Company has clearly violated Chinese labor laws. A serious light needs to be shined on these issues."

Court Tells Apple, Samsung Most Documents in Patent Case Must Be Public

With the high-profile jury trial in the Apple-Samsung patent-infringement lawsuit scheduled to begin on Monday, July 30, Judge Lucy Koh - who is presiding over the case at the US District Court in San Jose – told the two companies on Friday that most documents in the case must be public.

Despite the fact that there presently is no clarity about which documents in the case will be made public and which will not, the court’s order implies that Apple and Samsung will have to disclose certain pieces of information to the public during the jury trial.

Samsung developing Windows RT tablet: report

South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung is developing a new Windows RT-based tablet computer, according to a fresh report by Bloomberg.

The report claims that the Samsung's upcoming Windows RT, ARM-based based tablet will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, and should be available in October along with the debut of Microsoft's Windows RT operating system.

The South Korean manufacturer has its own Exynos ARM CPU, but it is known for often using processors from other manufacturers for its handsets and tablet computers.

Cupertino-based Apple recently filed a complaint in a California court, accusing the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone of infringing on at least two of its patents. According to Apple's complaint, the new smartphone infringes on iPhone patented features such as sliding lock and auto-correct on texting.

Apple has sued Samsung to block US sales of Galaxy S III

After filing a motion against Samsung over its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in May, Apple has now intensified its patent dispute with its biggest rival by suing the company to block the US sales of Samsung's eagerly-awaited Galaxy S III smartphone.

Via its latest complaint, filed earlier this week in a California court, Apple is seeking an injunction on the basis of the argument that the Samsung Galaxy S III handset - which was unveiled by Samsung in early May at an event in London - infringes on at least two of its patents pertaining to data-tapping and unified search technologies.

Samsung releases Galaxy Note in Australia

According to a recent announcement by Samsung, the company's smartphone-tablet hybrid Galaxy Note - which was launched in the US and Europe a few months back - has finally hit the Australian market.

The part-phone, part-tablet Galaxy Note will be available in Australia from this week from Optus and Vodafone with a price-tag of $899 outright. While the Optus offer for the device includes $0 on its 2-year $79 cap plan; the Vodafone offer includes $5 on its 2-year $59 cap plan.
