Apple's dispatching $15 settlement checks to ‘antennagate’-affected iPhone 4 owners

The Unofficial Apple Weblog has revealed in a recent report that the Apple iPhone 4 users affected by the device's `antennagate' issue have started receiving their $15 settlement checks through mail.

The $15 settlement checks are being sent to the iPhone 4 owners who had filed a class-action lawsuit against Apple over their handset's `antennagate' problem, which underscored some signal issues in the handset. The iPhone
4 users who are getting the settlement checks can get them cashed till July 16.

Court Tells Apple, Samsung Most Documents in Patent Case Must Be Public

With the high-profile jury trial in the Apple-Samsung patent-infringement lawsuit scheduled to begin on Monday, July 30, Judge Lucy Koh - who is presiding over the case at the US District Court in San Jose – told the two companies on Friday that most documents in the case must be public.

Apple’s iOS will win in the enterprise: survey

Apple's mobile operating system iOS has a lead over Google's Android, and it will win in the enterprise, a fresh IDC/Appcelerator survey revealed.

According to the IDC/Appcelerator second-quarter 2012 Mobile Developer Report, iOS has a 16 per cent lead over Android. 53 per cent of respondents said iOS will win in the enterprise, while only 37 per cent think Google's mobile platform will win.

A U. S. judge on Wednesday said that Late Steve Jobs' comments about Google Android operating system should not influence upcoming Apple-Samsung trial.

Apple iPhone 5 reportedly in production stage

According to a Saturday post on the Japan-based Apple fan blog Macotakara, some unnamed Chinese sources have revealed that the much-awaited Apple iPhone 5 is now in the production stage --- a revelation which coincides with the availability of third-party cases that have been designed for the forthcoming iPhone.

With the Macotakara blog post disclosing that the production of iPhone 5 has been ramped up by China-based manufacturers of the device, it has also been reported that there probably will be some minor design changes coming aboard the smartphone from parts allegedly leaked in May.

Apple suffers fall in U.S. Mac sales in Q2: IDC

Apple Inc. suffered a fall in PC sales in the United States in the second quarter that ended June 30, according to market research firms IDC.

According to figures compiled by IDC, the Cupertino, California-based computer maker sold fewer Macs in the country in the three months to the end of June as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.

The figures show that Apple shipped 1.81 million Mac computers in the United States during the concerned three months quarter, down 1.1 per cent from the 1.83 million Macs sold in the corresponding period of 2011.

‘Find & Call’ malware app removed from Apple App Store and Google Play

The "Find & Call," a malware app that was first spotted by Russian security vendor Kasbersky Lab, has been removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The malware app used to steal users' personal information and spam their address book contacts with invites to download this very same app.

Apart from stealing users' data from address books, the Trojan app also sent invitations to users to enter GPS co-ordinates, and login details to their different social network as well as email accounts, and additional services such as PayPal.

Limited availability of iMac at third-party resellers

In the wake of the fact that Apple released the last iMac update more than a year back, there are speculations galore among third-party resellers that the availability of the big-screen 27-inch desktop Mac will be quite `limited' in the coming weeks.

With the iMac lineup clearly being due for an update - more so since the line was last refreshed by Apple in May last year -, the limited availability of stock at the Mac resellers is generally taken as the first indication of Apple's plans to draw down the inventory of a product prior to its update.
